Steady ground, when everything is moving.
I accompany people through change, conflict and stress – bringing the structure of twenty years in tech together with a body-aware, deeply human way of working.
Sometimes thinking alone isn't enough.
You're functioning – but something no longer holds.
You've achieved a lot and wonder where to next.
A decision is due, but the clarity isn't there.
You want to change something – but don't know where to start.
This is where we begin – exactly where your head already knows everything and something still won't move.
Structure meets humanity.
Two worlds that rarely come together: clear thinking in systems and processes – and a feel for what happens in the body and the nervous system. In my work, they belong together.
Clarity & system
Twenty years in IT and open-source communities: governance, group dynamics, change processes. Together we find new order in what has become tangled.
Body & experience
Body psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing® taught me that lasting change goes beyond the mind. We take the nervous system seriously, not only the arguments.
What people come to me with.
At work
When your work and role are in motion and you're looking for steady footing again.
- decisions & direction
- stress & exhaustion
- transitions & new roles
- leading yourself first
In life
When what you've achieved no longer feels quite congruent.
- recurring patterns
- more congruence
- finding rest again
- feeling more alive
From code to connection.
I started out as a software engineer and quickly turned toward people – the dynamics of teams and projects, especially volunteers in open-source communities. I know the fast-paced working life well.
During my sabbatical in 2017 I became a Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie. Today I bring both together: the structure of those years and a body-aware, human view of change.
For people in open source and developer relations.
I spent twenty years inside this world – engineering, community work, developer relations. I know what it costs to hold a project together, and how rarely anyone asks how you are while you do it.
- You have been on call for a community for years and can't find the off switch.
- A conflict with contributors – or with your own employer, over the project – is wearing you down.
- You have stepped into a lead role and keep waiting to be found out.
- The company was acquired or wound down, and the project was your identity.
- You want out of tech. Or back in, on different terms.
This is coaching, not therapy: we work on your situation and your footing in it. Sessions run about 60 minutes, usually two to three weeks apart, online or in my rooms in Berlin – in English or German. I invoice you directly, or your employer if coaching comes out of a company budget.
The first step is a conversation.
A free first call
A short video call where we get to know each other and gain a first impression.
Clarify what matters
We look together at what you're bringing and whether my way of working fits you.
Online or in Berlin
From there we continue – online, or in my practice rooms in Berlin.
“I believe in second chances in life.”
Before you write.
What does a first conversation commit me to?
Nothing. The first call is free and short, and it exists so we can both get a feel for whether this fits. If it doesn't, I'll say so – and point you somewhere more useful where I can.
How many sessions does coaching usually take?
Fewer than people expect. A lot settles in five to ten sessions of about 60 minutes, usually two to three weeks apart. We set the rhythm together and look at it again as we go – there is no package to sign up for.
Is this coaching or therapy – how do I know which I need?
Coaching works on a present situation: a decision, a role, a conflict, the pace you're keeping. Therapy works on suffering that has a history to it. I'm trained for both, so we can name in the first conversation which one you're actually looking for – and if it's therapy, that belongs in my practice, not here.
Online or in person – and who gets the invoice?
Both work: online for most people, or in my rooms in Berlin if you'd rather sit in a room together. I invoice you directly, or your employer if the coaching comes out of a company budget.
Let's talk.
